okay, so poseidon holds a trident, not a triton. what is a triton anyway? apparently i just make up words whenever i want. but i'm pretty sure it's stupid to make up words for things that everybody already knows what the word is. my bad.
It's very understandable that Triton is used in some way conjunct with Poseidon because it's his son's name. Triton is a Merman. He also carries a trident. So maybe Poseidon once did carry a Triton, when little Tri was a baby?

brilliant! so i think i can now confirm that he was carrying neither a triton nor a trident
